Wahooo! A new collection of my humorous short stories is coming down the pike! Can’t wait for you to read it!
So I’ve been working on a new collection of humorous short stories under the working title of Encounters with Wild Animals. It will be in the same vein as A Knack for Embarrassment, only it’ll include more stories. Fans of Patrick McManus, Erma Bombeck, Mark Twain, and Dave Barry will love this one. The title story is about various encounters I’ve had with wild animals over the years, including one close call with a crazed squirrel (like the one in the image above – don’t let the supposed “cuteness” fool you).
There are stories in this new book about a short stint I had with pyromania on my grandma’s farm, a Holstein from hell who chased me all over the pasture of my youth, a top secret plan (complete with rubber band guns and walkie talkies) to eradicate a mouse who left his little “indiscretions” all over the silverware drawer, the horrors of anxiety in my college Social Dance 101 class (I’d rather face bears!), cutthroat backyard baseball games, a high-stakes marble race pitting my best pee wee marble against Guido Calzoni’s polished aggie, and Ricky Spunkle’s unfortunate attempt at ski jumping among others. Here’s a look at the Table of Contents as of right now:
I’m hoping to finish the book up this year so I can get it into your hands for some good laughs before or at least by Christmas. If you’re interested in being an advanced copy reader willing to provide an honest review in exchange for a free advanced copy of the ebook, let me know and I’ll get you down on my special readers list (more on that elite group soon).
